Low prices for Russian pollock partly offset by 80% jump in exports to China

Expectations are that Russia's weak currency will strengthen in the coming months and lead to higher prices later this year.

“At this time of year, prices for pollock are usually significantly higher. Most likely, the reason is the weak Russian ruble against the US dollar, which makes the current low pollock prices acceptable for Russian suppliers, and they agree to sell pollock in dollars cheaper than usual at this time of year,” Efremov told IntraFish.
