Although still at relatively small levels, there was a notable jump in Norwegian frozen cod exports to Indonesia in November, fueling speculation of an emerging whitefish processing industry in the Asian nation.

Exports of frozen cod to Indonesia saw the most significant increase in value in November, according to the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), rising to NOK 9 million (€870,021/$919,061) compared to nothing last year.

Although still relatively minor at 184 metric tons in November, over the past three months Norway has exported a total of 450 metric tons of frozen whole cod to Indonesia.
