A US District Judge in Massachusetts dismissed a lawsuit over Gorton's deceptive sustainability marketing for its tilapia to move forward, following industry groups stepping forward to vouch for the company.
On Wednesday Judge Patti Saris, a US judge for a Massachusetts district court, approved the settlement between Gorton's and plaintiffs Jeffrey Alan Spindel and Kevin McCarthy.
In their lawsuit the consumer plaintiffs alleged Gorton's tilapia products are made from fish "industrially farmed using unsustainable practices that are environmentally destructive and inhumane."
