Icelandic fishing giant Brim re-appointed Gudmundur Kristjansson as CEO, after he resigned last April for personal reasons.

Prior to resigning, Kristjansson had been in the CEO position since June 2018.

Kristjan Davidsson, chairman of the board, took up the CEO duties following Kristjansson's resignation.

Kristjansson is the majority owner of Utgeroarfelag Reykjavikur, Brim's largest single owner.

Brim -- formerly HB Grandi -- and its subsidiaries operate 10 fishing vessels, processing fish at sea, as well as in plants in Reykjavik, Hafnarfjordur, Akranes and Vopnafjordur.

The company holds the largest share of the Icelandic fishing quota and operates its own marketing department, which sells fish all over the world. Brim employs around 800 people in various jobs across its fisheries value chain.

In July, Brim sold one of its subsidiaries, Nordanfiskur, and also sold its newly built freezer trawler Illilveq to the Greenlandic fishing Company Arctic Prime Fisheries (APF).

As part of this deal, Brim acquired a 16.5 percent share in APF.

In March, Brim acquired a minority stake in Icelandic Pelagic, an exporter of mackerel, herring, capelin, Atlantic cod and other seafood.
