Barents Sea cod quota compromise risks further cut in 2026

A Norwegian researcher says the TAC for 2025 will lead to a further decline in stocks. Others say the quota was a satisfactory agreement in exceptional circumstances.

The Joint Norwegian-Russian Fisheries Commission set the total allowable catch (TAC) for Northeast Arctic cod for 2025 at 340,000 metric tons, a drop of 25 percent from the current year.
