Brazilian canned seafood brand Robinson Crusoe, owned by Spain's Jealsa Rianxeira, expects sales to grow by double digits this year as the company moves to reach consumers directly through online marketplace Mercado Livre.

The company isn't currently selling its products through its own website, and executives were surprised to find they were being sold by other sellers through Mercado Livre, leading them do it themselves through the official Mercado Livre Robinson Crusoe channel, so far with promising results.

"It's another point of sale for our products to reach the consumer in a practical, fast and efficient way," Marketing Manager Juliana Antunes, who joined the company as marketing manager in April, told IntraFish.
