Russian Fishery Company (RFC), one of Russia’s largest producers of whitefish, has started shipping products in refrigerated containers to Europe, the United States and South East Asia by sea from the port of Vladivostok -- bypassing the South Korea and China for the first time.

Shipping costs via Vladivostok have become competitive thanks to a state program of support and subsidies for transport costs implemented by Russia’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Russian Fishery First Deputy Director Saveliy Karpukhin said the company has already shipped more than 1,000 containers from Vladivostok, and said further development of the Vladivostok logistics hub through 2022 will allow it to ship directly even more.
