The Scottish salmon farming industry is urging the government of Boris Johnson to end the threat of tariffs related to unresolved terms of the Brexit deal.

Scottish salmon will likely be a major target for any potential EU retaliatory tariffs as officials in London and Brussels continue to dispute how the Northern Ireland protocol portion of the EU-UK trade and cooperation agreement (TCA) should work more than 14 months after the deal was agreed to.

Like Scotch whisky, tariffs on Scottish salmon are likely to strike a nerve between governments and communities in England and Scotland, particularly because the Scottish fishing industry has taken a battering since the United Kingdom left the EU.
