European surimi giant Viciunai is pushing back against claims in Lithuanian media that it delayed the closure of its Russian processing operations after announcing plans to shut them down earlier this month.

Lithuanian journalist Andrius Tapinas claimed on his Facebook page that, according to "sources in Kaliningrad," the factory was still operating as recently as yesterday.

"First of all, it’s a lie," the company wrote in a statement sent to IntraFish.

"Viciunai Group has suspended the supply of raw materials, we are also negotiating a complete cessation of operations with raw material and financial business partners from Western Europe."
