Vietnam failed to meet its seafood export targets in 2019, citing the antidumping tax on shrimp it exports to the United States and the illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) yellow card imposed on its seafood exports to Europe.

Seafood exports fell 2.3 percent year-on-year to $8.4 billion (€7.5 billion), according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Only tuna exports increased, rising 12 percent compared to the year prior, while the rest of the popular species' exports fell.
