The UK seafood industry is urging the government of recently installed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to forge closer links with the European Union to smooth the flow of goods between the two regions.

Scottish salmon producers have been among the most fervent advocates of closer EU ties, having suffered severe delays in the aftermath of the UK's departure from the EU in 2021.

"Any moves to improve trading conditions to our main markets would be very welcome," Salmon Scotland CEO Tavish Scott told IntraFish.
