The UK government is moving ahead with plans to implement a 35 percent tariff on Russian whitefish imports after suspending the move in April to discuss the potential effect on the country's seafood firms, sources told IntraFish on Thursday.

The UK announced a ban on exports to Russia of high-end luxury goods on March 15 in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The government also published an initial list of goods worth £900 million (€1.1 billion/$1.2 billion) -- including whitefish -- it said would face an additional 35 percent tariff on top of any existing tariffs.
