The Trump administration is once again coming to the aid of Maine's lobster industry.

The US International Trade Commission (USITC) is investigating the possible negative effects of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on the US lobster industry.

The agency is focusing its investigation on the economic effects of CETA on the volume of US exports of lobster to the EU and the United Kingdom. It expects to deliver its findings by Jan. 29, 2021.

CETA reduced EU import tariffs to zero on live Canadian lobsters and later eliminated tariffs on frozen and processed Canadian lobsters.
