United States Trade Representative (USTR) Robert Lighthizer responded to Monday’s announcement by the European Union imposing $4 billion (€3.4 billion) worth of tariffs on certain products from the United States, calling the move “disappointing."

But, as far as seafood goes, things could have been a lot worse.

The new retaliatory tariffs on US exports, which will primarily target Pacific salmon, Atlantic scallops and collagen, are a small price to pay given what was on the initial list.
