US President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order that aims to boost the seafood industry by removing regulatory barriers restricting American fishermen and aquaculture producers and help reverse the growing seafood trade deficit.

In part, the executive order calls on the government to prepare "a comprehensive interagency seafood trade strategy that identifies opportunities to improve access to foreign markets through trade policy and negotiations, resolves technical barriers to United States seafood exports, and otherwise supports fair market access for United States seafood products."
