With the UK government finally imposing long awaited new tariffs on Russian whitefish, Seafish, the country's seafood trade association, has published guidance in an attempt to help the industry navigate what it all means.

Central to the new rules is whether or not the new 35 percent tariffs on Russian imports will affect products that have come via third-party countries -- China in particular.

According to Seafish and government data, the UK imported 50,317 metric tons of groundfish from China in 2020, a significant portion of which was Russian-caught cod and pollock.
