Russia pushes India to cut seafood tariffs as exporters eye new Asian markets

With exports to India almost non-existent, Russia is lobbying for lower tariffs through both bilateral talks and the Eurasian Economic Union in a bid to compete with Norway and Iceland’s duty-free advantage.

"Currently, tariff barriers coupled with preferential treatment for Russian competitors are eroding our price advantage in the Indian seafood market," said German Zverev, president of the All-Russian Fishery Association (VARPE).
