Russia is extending its countersanctions against western nations, including the United States and those of the European Union until the end of 2021, the Kremlin announced Saturday.

President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending certain special economic measures against countries that have imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation until Dec. 31, 2021.

The embargo on perishable food imports, which includes fish, fruit and vegetables, meat, and dairy products, has been in place since 2014.
