Rising salmon prices in the second half of 2021 helped the Scottish industry narrow a "disappointing" gap between volumes and revenue, Salmon Scotland CEO Tavish Scott told IntraFish.

In August, the trade body released figures showing that Scottish farmed exports to the EU smashed the half-year record last year.

Despite this, industry executives declared themselves disappointed that the value of their salmon was suppressed due to intense marketplace competition and fallout from Brexit’s impact on supply chains.

Salmon Scotland's most recent figures, however, show export volume to the EU rising by 32 percent to 65,710 metric tons, while the value of those exports rose 29 percent to £372 million (€445 million/$503 million).
