Norway’s seafood exports increased significantly during the first half of this year due partly to rising global food prices and strong demand.

The export value of Norwegian seafood increased 31 percent compared with the same period last year, reaching NOK 70.1 billion (€6.8 billion/$7 billion).

Norwegian seafood exports have never been higher during the first half of a year, according to figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council.

“In just six months, we have exceeded the export value for the whole of 2015,” Norwegian Seafood Council acting CEO Borge Gronbech said.
