Canadian shelfish giant Clearwater Seafoods said it may see some short-term benefit for its king scallops business after the European Union unveiled plans to impose $4 billion (€3.4 billion) in retaliatory tariffs on US goods.

The move will impact some seafood exports into the trade bloc, including scallops and frozen Pacific salmon from the United States.

Clearwater's MacDuff operations in Scotland, which it acquired in 2015, harvest and process king (Pecten maximus) and queen (Aequipecten opercularis) scallops.
