China threatens Russia with 'paralyzing' seafood ban after COVID-19 traces found on pollock

In 2019, China accounted for around 60% of Russia's seafood exports, with volumes exceeding 1 million metric tons.

At negotiations on Sept. 25, the General Customs Administration (GTU) of China informed Russia’s federal veterinary service Rosselkhoznadzor that any new cases of detection on samples of Russian frozen fish products could lead to a complete suspension of Russian seafoods export to China.
