China now imports more Vietnamese seafood than the United States

A Vietnamese official said shifting trade dynamics are 'an inevitable consequence of the unstable tariff policy.'

China imported $1.1 billion of Vietnamese seafood in the first half 2025, while the United States imported $905 million. Pangasius - seen farmed in the Mekong Delta - was the most stable of the three main species exported by Vietnam.
