The Alaska pollock industry has launched a project to identify future sales growth opportunities for the fish, and has narrowed down a list of 20 export markets on which to focus.

The Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) said last week at its annual meeting that it has launched a four-stage project aimed at identifying the most promising markets for Alaska pollock among both established and emerging countries over the next two decades.

A working group for the so-called "2040 Project" is chaired by American Seafoods Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Rasmus Sorensen, who will work with research consultancy McKinley Group on developing the plan.
