Unlike the United States, the European Union (EU) and United Kingdom (UK) have so far not placed any official ban on Russian seafood imports in response to the war in Ukraine, but the sector in Europe should nevertheless prepare and be ready for all possible situations.

Maruha Nichiro-owned Dutch trader Seafood Connection, for which Russia is an important source of Alaska pollock, cod and wild salmon, told IntraFish the "shocking international conflict" between Russia and Ukraine is rocking the European market, with a lot of uncertainty being created through talks about sanctions and economic action.
