US cell-based seafood company receives venture capital boost

Cell-based US seafood company SoundEats, which plans to manufacture a lean whitefish using stem cell technology, is receiving a boost from alternative protein venture capital firm Big Idea Ventures.

Seattle-based SoundEats, now headed by former KeyBanc Capital Markets executive Tim Lennox, received an undisclosed amount of funding from the venture capital firm this summer as part of the firm's New Protein Fund II Paris and New York accelerator program. The details of the program were announced for the first time Wednesday.
