Scotland-based tech company Krucial, a startup that uses satellite technology to facilitate the monitoring of salmon farms, has secured more than $3.7 million (€3.4 million) in funding to back its international expansion plans.

Krucial works with Norway-based salmon giant Mowi to help it monitor key environmental parameters critical to fish welfare.

The investment was led by existing investor Scottish National Investment Bank, joined by the University of Strathclyde, Scottish Enterprise, and Dubai-based space and technology investor AzurX.

The funding will be used to accelerate growth in core markets including the aquaculture sector.
