Aquaculture technology companies are coming to the defense of the land-based farming segment after IntraFish last week reported that Atlantic salmon raised in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) still faces the issue of "off-flavor."
Israel-based aquaculture supplier AquaMaof CEO David Hazut told IntraFish the issue is "heavily researched."
"Today, there is a variety of effective means to tackle it. We have been working with our clients, in complete transparency, towards responsible production planning, which considers all the elements needed in order to produce high-quality end products and meet production goals," he said.
