Norway hopes to regain Marine Stewardship Council eco-label for inshore cod fishery by 2023

Norway’s inshore cod fishery lost its MSC certification in August, leaving a sizeable hole in the volume of certified whitefish.

The Norwegian Fishermen's Association, which is the client for the certification, applied to have the inshore cod and haddock fisheries certified separately in April after the eco-label loss, and initially had an ambitious timeline of regaining the certification by January, 2022.
