NGO again wants independent review of MSC; eco-label group says that's not necessary

Fisheries certification group the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is dismissing a call from environmental NGO On the Hook for an independent review into MSC standards, the council said in a statement to IntraFish.

“We welcome the fact that the On the Hook campaign recognizes that MSC plays an important role in incentivizing the adoption of sustainable fishing practices globally. However, we disagree with the campaign’s description of the MSC as an organization with only limited stakeholder involvement, thus necessitating the need for an independent review,” the council said.
