The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification covering the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) Pacific cod fishery has been reinstated, effective Jan. 1, certification body MRAG Americas said Friday.

The decision to lift a suspension of the fishery's certification is the result of an expedited audit that was announced on Dec. 22. The audit was based on new information on the stock status provided by NOAA fisheries and decisions of the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council in November.
