The Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) awarded salmon farmer Grieg Seafood British Columbia the first group-wide Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for six of its farms on March 30.

The farms included in the group certification are Barnes Bay in Okisollo Channel and Culloden, Site 13, Salten, Vantage Point and Ahlstrom Point. All of the farms are located off the Sunshine Coast.

Despite Grieg carrying individual BAP stamps for its farms since 2012, the group certificate differs in that all of the mentioned farms are audited and certified under a single certificate, said Grieg Certifications Manager Kristin Storry.
