Danish aquaculture feed company BioMar said Thursday it is partnering with international nonprofit Earthworm Foundation to drive sustainable shrimp projects in Ecuador.

The Earthworm Foundation focuses on social and environmental projects.

The firms' collaboration extends across the full shrimp value chain and includes deforestation-free aquafeeds and initiatives to drive social change and sustainability practices in the region.

“Shrimp farming has a unique impact on the environment, and there is an opportunity to work with Ecuadorian shrimp producers to support them by sharing improved environmental and social practices,” said Florie Hovine, member manager at Earthworm Foundation.
