Russia’s largest fishing quota holder is seeking its own Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) sustainable fishing certificate for its fleet operating in the Sea of Okhotsk mid-water trawl pollock fishery.

The company launched the assessment of the pollock fishery in the same areas covered currently by the Russian Pollock Catchers Association's (PCA) MSC certificate.

Though Norebo and its vessels are covered under the PCA's certificate, its own certification will give the group crucial independence, according to Sergey Sennikov, deputy director for international affairs and public communications at Norebo.
