Ecuadorian shrimp exporters are benefiting as Russia’s shrimp market gradually recovers after a dramatic fall in 2014 in the face of trade sanctions imposed by Russia and Western nations on each other.

In 2020, Russia’s overall shrimp imports grew 20 percent year-on-year to reach 55,294 metric tons in volume and $303 million (€254 million) in value, according to the country’s federal customs service.
