Thai seafood giant Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) has produced a lot of shrimp, but in March the first US-grown shrimp from its land-based facility in Florida will hit the market.

Escaping last month's Hurricane Ian, the company is in the final stages of construction and is ready to put shrimp into tanks in December, the project's head, Robins McIntosh, told IntraFish.

"I'm very lucky," said McIntosh. "The hurricane didn't really touch us too much. It damaged the recycle system of the hatchery, which will limit production in the short term, but the farm building is intact and the construction continues."
