Indonesia shrimp exports imports increased 3 percent by volume in the opening seven months of the year to 94,330 metric tons (207 million pounds), according to latest figures published by Ecuador's Camara Nacional de Acuacultura (CNA) trade association.

The value of those exports were up 9 percent from the same period the year prior to $887 million (€886 million).

In 2020, the first year of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia exported 94,790 metric tons of shrimp, 0.5 percent more than imports during the first seven months of this year.

The value of shrimp exports over this time period was 10.7 percent higher in 2022 than it was in 2020.

Shipments to the United States fell 9 percent, falling short of 70,000 metric tons, while from much smaller bases exports to Japan were 10 percent higher at around 15,000 metric tons.

Exports to China climbed 189 percent to in the region of 8,500 metric tons.
