Honduran shrimp exports fell 7 percent in the opening five months of the year as the industry battled to contain fallout from the coronavirus health crisis and a lack of rainfall last year.

Shipments came in at 20.5 million pounds from January to May.

It means the industry has some catching up to do if it is to even match the flat forecast for exports for 2020 made in early February before foodservice demand collapsed in the country's key markets of Asia, Europe and the United States.
