Honduran shrimp producers expect to see flat production in 2023, although the outlook could be dampened by major buyer Taiwan turning to cheaper Ecuadorian imports.

In 2022, production in Honduras totaled 64,913 metric tons (143.1 million pounds), coming in half a percentage point above forecasts made earlier in the year.

This year production is expected to come in at 65,000 metric tons (143.3 million pounds).

Around half of this total will be shipped abroad, with the remaining volume accounted for by sales to the domestic market and losses in processing through shrimp head removal, peeling and cooking.
