Blue Genetics Mexico, a subsidiary of France-based Groupe Grimaud, and Sea Product Development, a US provider of selectively-bred shrimp genetics, have merged to form a new company.

Both companies have decided to merge under Groupe Grimaud, under the name Blue Genetics Global and will be headquartered in France.

Texas-based Sea Products Development is a provider of selectively bred shrimp genetics to the global aquaculture industry in the form of broodstock and post larvae.

Blue Genetics Mexico specializes in genetic selection for white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei), providing Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) broodstock to the international markets.

Groupe Grimaud will be the majority shareholder. The merger is supported by existing management of both companies, and no change in the company's structure is planned for the immediate future, the companies said.
