Ecuadorian shrimp exports hit a record high in April, aided by rising shipments to China and other areas of the world.

The South American nation's producers shipped 167.3 million pounds last month, a 31 percent increase on the same month in 2020 and a 22 percent rise compared with March.

Shipments by value also reached a record monthly high, coming in at $404 million (€331 million), supported by average prices of $2.42 (€1.98) a pound, the highest since May last year.
