Ecuadorian shrimp producer Export Quilsa is targeting European markets as part of its strategy to diversify from its reliance on the Chinese market.

The company, based in Yaguachi in southwestern Ecuador, ships around five million pounds a month to export markets.

Despite the current problems of getting shrimp into China because of COVID-19 checks and restrictions, the company is sending around 70 percent of its exports to the Asian powerhouse nation, with 25 percent going to the United States and the remainder to other markets.
