Ecuador's global shrimp exports rose 32 percent in August from a year earlier to 152 million pounds, helped by orders from China.

Exports to China, by far the South American nation's largest market, climbed 161 percent to 74.6 million pounds compared with the same month last year when orders nosedived amid port delays linked to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

But the figure is still short of the 2021 high of 82 million pounds in April and way off the 116 million pounds record exports shipped to China in May 2020.
