The Chinese government has lifted a suspension of shipments from Ecuadorian shrimp giant Songa.

Authorities imposed the ban in January after the presence of white spot disease was allegedly found in a consignment.

Ecuador's ambassador in Beijing, Carlos Larrea, said the lifting of the suspension followed an active exchange of technical information, which paved the way for a diplomatic negotiation.

"Ecuador has reinforced each biosafety measure to build trust and guarantee the health of its final consumers, because Ecuadorian shrimp must reach the table safely," Larrea said.
