Global shrimp production company Blue Aqua International is hoping to be up and running with shrimp farms in Oman and Brunei next year.

“We are currently in the middle of discussions with the Brunei authorities about farming marsupenaeus japonicus shrimp,” Blue Aqua International CEO Farshad Shishehchian told IntraFish at last week's Global Shrimp Forum in Utrecht, Holland.

Marsupenaeus japonicus is commonly known in the market as kuruma shrimp, kuruma prawn or Japanese tiger prawn.

“Land has been allocated to us, but there are a few things left to finalize, and we are waiting for final approval from the local authorities,” he said.
