Construction of a 400-metric-ton closed-system shrimp farm is underway in the center of Morocco, 120 kilometers from the sea.

Built and controlled by the Zurich-based sustainable aquaculture technology company, Novaton, the farm will use the company's proprietary biological closed system, Novasphere Nano, which is controlled by smart systems and has almost zero water exchange.

“This project is unique,” said Novaton board member Othman Krafess. “It will drive the modernization of Moroccan aquaculture." Shrimp farmed at the facility will be sold to both domestic and export markets.
