The full scale of costs, delays, cancellations and cargo space shortages from the global shipping crisis were laid bare in the first-ever IntraFish Shipping and Logistics Forum on Feb. 17.

Since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, seafood firms have been forced to rethink their distribution strategies, with sky-high shipping costs among the most challenging obstacles.

Norwegian giant Insula -- parent to some of Northern Europe's largest seafood companies -- ships frozen fish to the US and Asian markets by container, moves much of its fresh fish by truck, and flies consignments to some customers, giving it exposure to inflation across the entire transportation chain.
