UK seafood businesses are being urged to prepare to file their first quarterly Plastics Packaging Tax (PPT) return if they are not currently doing so.
The new tax, charged at £200 (€235/$252) per metric ton, took effect April 1. It is aimed at encouraging companies to increase the amount of recyclable plastic material used in their packaging.
The tax is levied on all plastic packaging materials made in or imported into the UK that contains less than 30 percent recycled material.
