The chairman of global shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk Robert Maersk Uggla is challenging criticism of the container ship industry from leaders, including US President Joe Biden.

Seafood companies, like businesses in many other industries, have suffered from runaway shipping rates and lengthy delays at ports linked to the global container shipping crisis that began with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.

Speaking to graduates of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s class of 2022 over the weekend, the Danish chief executive of AP Moller Holding said, “Lately, some leaders have given the impression that shipping lines are to be blamed for the challenges, delays and costs we are witnessing with transported goods.”
