Shipping rates on key routes from China to Europe and the United States fell by double digits this past week, potentially lifting further pressure off seafood exporters, according to the latest bulletin from shipping sector analysts Drewry.

Rates per 40-foot equivalent unit container (feu) from Shanghai to Rotterdam are down 4 percent from last week to $5,441(€5,599), while rates for containers going in the opposite direction were flat at $1,003 (€1,032).

Shipping rates from Shanghai to Los Angeles are down 13 percent to $3,283 (€3,377).
